Fall is Here...and Daylight savings

More pictures from walking around the old Roman wall in Maastricht. The next day I took Andrea to the train station. We thought the bus was really late which is not normal in The Netherlands. A dutch girl came up to us and all three of us discovered that, oops! We were suppose to set our clocks one hour behind! I had notes written and everything but with all our bad luck the past couple days traveling around this just added to the fun. Andrea definitely got to the airport on time.

Maastricht

Saturday Andrea and I went to Maastricht. It took a little over 3 hours to get there by bus and train. It is a gorgeous city. It was a holiday week so everywhere we went it was crowded, especially Utrecht. Even though it was cloudy and busy we were having a good time until we had been waiting in line for 20 minutes to get those vlaamse frite that everyone talks about only to discover Andrea's wallet was missing. We backed tracked and went to the stores and cafe. We think someone stole it out of her purse when she was trying boots on. It kinda put a damper on things. Luckily she did not have much cash and only a credit card. We still stayed on and made the most of it!

Andrea's Visit, Anja's Departure and Drama in Maastricht

Andrea, who Anja and I become friends with in Sweden flew from her hometown Ottawa, Canada to visit us in Holland. Anja leaves Monday for two months to Australia to travel and visit a friend who has been working there had a going away party at her boyfriend Pim's apartment in Arnhem. I got to see Anja's sisters again and also friends that visited Anja in Sweden that I met and hung out with. Arnhem is actually a really nice city. You don't hear much about it but it had really nice shops and atmosphere. We made the last train home which is waaay to early at 12am.

Pannekoeken Huis!

After rowing, Anja, her sisters (Marja and Ineke) along with Ineke's boyfriend and Anja's boyfriend Pim we went to dinner at a pannekoeken huis in Wageningen. I ride my bike past it every day but have never been there. Usually they are really kitschy and have old fashioned decor but this one was quite contemporary. The food and company was great. I was fading away after the rowing from earlier...

Final Pictures

Look how far ahead we are! In all the pictures I am the third from the coach or second from the back. We are dressed up because each team needed a theme. We all are nutrition or food technology students so we wore the aprons and chef hats. Mine flew off in the first race.

KK Rowing Competition

Today was our first rowing competition. We raced two times. The first time we surprisingly won by a lot and had a good time. Everything just went well. The second race was ok, the first race is the one we will remember. Since we are leaving in December it is not worth the money to be a member. If I was staying for a whole year I would definitely be a competition rower. Going to Ireland is not such a bad trade though! Instead some of us will be "weekend" rowers. We cannot race but we can row only on the weekends.

I helped out at this new festival in Wageningen. I have never seen so many people in the city center. Lots of free food and music. Earned a little money...perfect weather too!

Our Euro Dinner Smorgasbord

I think there were 11 countries represented at this dinner, let's see...Greek, Moroccan, Lebanese, Peruvian, American, Swedish, Chinese, Belgium, French, Dutch, Japanese. Everything tasted devine and went well together. Jimi and Karima played the guitar after we wre full of food and wine. A perfect Saturday night!
