Snow but not cold enough to skate outdoor but this will do

We went ice skating at Lund's "new" rink. I have skated twice in my life and the last time was 10 yrs ago. Pretty good for someone who comes from Tucson. Of course Xavier was much better at it than me and could lap me but I could make it around without stopping and falling :)

Snowy days calls for good food!

Xavier and I made a Princesstarta while he was here. He made the flower in the middle. Check out the detail on his art work!
I also made a chicken recipe I got from my aunt Gunnel. It has juniper berries and black current juice in the sauce - sooo good!

Snow in Skane!

Of course the day Xavier is to come we get the first snow here. It hasn't snowed like this for three years I have been told. It was not very cold and rain the last few weeks and the bam, it got cold and started snowing!!

La Chaux France

Our last evening we drove to Xavier's parents house. We went to a friend's house for cheese and dessert. I should have brought my camera. They remodeled an old HUGE farm house near his parents. They had very good food but at this point I was saturated. The next day for lunch we made a fondue with his parents before leaving for the airport in Geneva. I wonderful trip. Too bad it must come to and end!
There are lots of food pictures but hey, we are food technologists. This is all in the name of education, work and pleasure.

Bain de Gruyere

Here is the really nice bath house we went to. You could soak in the warm "bain thermal" while watching the sun set over the snow capped moutains. They also had "bain nordic" the cold bath, wet and dry sauna and indoor pool. So relaxing...

The Swiss Mountains ooo la la

After I spent the morning making beignet with a chocolate creme patisserie (the french call that easy) we took a ride to Charmey to puritfy ourselves from all the good food.

Gout et Terrior - Bulle

Xavier found out about this local Swiss food festival in the area we were going to be. They had sooo many things to try that are traditional to Switzerland or made in Switzerland. There werea few things from France. This town, Bulle, is called the place of taste! My kind of town.
I think the best thing we had was a pistachio oil and lots of good dry sausage.

Nestle Cailler Chocolate Factory

After the cheese factory the chocolate factory came next. Everything is in the same area in the "canton" of Fribourg. It was a free tour and the last until April! Smelled heavenly!

Bricelet

I finally found Bricelet! I took pictures of the iron that you make them in before in the blog. I bought these for Xavier since he likes them so much.
